For newer players especially, slipping into roleplaying a character can be challenging or outright scary. It can be difficult to step outside of yourself, to find your character’s voice, or feel silly to talk to your friends in a made-up voice. This week, Sara & Rob examine what Storytellers can do to encourage roleplaying at the table, and make staying in character less intimidating and more fun for everyone.

“Powered by the Apocalypse” is a TTRPG system created in 2010 for the game Apocalypse World, but later adapted to other games such as Dungeon World, Monsterhearts, and Urban Shadows. It features narrative gameplay with heavy player collaboration. This week, Rob & Sara delve into what makes PbtA unique with another of their System Spotlights.
